Vancouver's 8th Annual Stop, Drop and Roll

Rosie welcoming everyone with a land acknowledgment.

The 8th Annual Stop, Drop and Roll was held at the Vancouver Skate Plaza which is on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.”

The sun was out and the turn out for the lessons was a huge success, volunteers from Skate Like a Girl, Eastside Skate Club and Nations Skate Youth all came together to inspire the next generation of skaters. Truly does take a community to support something special.

DJ Lauren Ralph and the Red Bull team created a vibe and had the crowd dancing all day long.

As the skate jam started the guest judges this year were Michelle Pezel, Laura Silvia and Kristin Ebeling.

Starting off with the beginner’s category, it was amazing to see the new faces as they skated in their first Stop, Drop and Roll. For a lot of them it was also their first-time skating at the Plaza which can be an intimidating place. Creating a space for them to feel confident and comfortable enough to roll around was very awesome to see.

As we rolled into the intermediate category it was great to see familiar faces from all over come back and support the event. Smiles all around and having friends cheer each other on was heart warming.

The Beginners heat

Shari White with the longest grind of the day.

The category that always will always bring inspiration to the younger ones was the 30+ and this year was the first year there was a 40+ legendary category; it goes to show skateboarding only gets better with age.

Una Farrar hyping up the crowd.

Elly reminding us style matters

Fabiana Delfino and Jackie Michel

As the crowd was very hyped it was time to watch the advanced category and this meant everyone got to see their favourite pros skate. With special guests from LA, Florida, and Las Vegas skating along with all our fav locals the vibe check was very high! We missed seeing Una out there but she was on the mic hyping up her friends.

Kristin Ebeling never misses a Stop, Drop and Roll.

The best trick on the Quarter pipe and the hip gave everyone a chance to win some cold hard cash!
The QP brought some fire with Nina, Fabi, Jackie, Kristin, doing NBD tricks at the plaza it was exciting to the watch. The best Trick on the QP went to Dayana Young with a stylish frontside flip.

Jackie Michel bringing in the Vegas heat with a Back Boneless.

Rosie and Breezy sharing a moment.

Dayana Young winning the Best Trick with her steezy FS Flip.

Fabiana Delfino with a front smith

The hip was a classic obstacle as Rosie and Kassy were calling out what tricks they wanted see it got intense to watch the back-to-back tricks. The best trick went to Kristin Ebeling with her Frontside Flip.

Got to love Breana’s impossible over the hip

We couldn’t end the session without getting Norma’s classic group photo and handing out the awards made by Adea/Billywould.
